Backwoods Pie

Backwoods pie is a Canadian based pie, stuffed with real maple syrup. It makes a very healthy brunch in very short time. Backwoods pie is a very famous recipe particularly among children. It’s a great way to serve your children with carbs, proteins and calcium within a single package. And the grown-ups too won’t mind to eat all em’up at once. Chill well and top with whipped cream before serving.

Ingredients

Pie pastry
8 tablespoons brown sugar
12 oz. pure maple syrup
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons butter
3 eggs, separated
Nutmeg

1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees F.

2. Mix together brown sugar, syrup, milk, butter and egg yolks in a bowl. In another bowl beat the egg whites until fluffy. Put the sugar mixture into the egg whites and mix together.

3. Take out pastry into pie plate and pour over sugar mixture. Bake for 30-40 minutes until cooked.
