Famous Cakes All Around the World

A cake can come in different shapes, sizes, and flavors, with the most common including carrot, cherry, vanilla, and chocolate. Many of the more attractive cakes are likely to feature a sugar-based frosting for creating that rich look. They might also feature a quality selection of extras to adorn the cake, like candies, sugars, nuts, coconut, and dried fruits. Here are some of the most popular types of cakes:

Angel Food Cake: Light, airy, and fat-free, the angel food cake offers a delicate and fluffy texture that is certain to melt in the mouth. Since these cakes are baked without fat, they are essentially cholesterol free. Whether you're looking to serve the angel food cake with whipped cream and fresh fruit or plain with a light icing, you will certainly appreciate these delightful cakes.

Cheesecake: A classic, smooth, and creamy cheesecake is a very dense type of dessert, and is likely to be made with a combination of cream, eggs, sugar, cream cheese, and flavorings. A cheesecake is made with a choice of crust, like graham cracker, cookie, or pasty. But, you do also have the option of making these cakes without a crust. They are able to offer a mouth-watering taste of creamy vanilla and can be combined with sour cream and lemon. In general, there is an almost endless list of possibilities when it comes to the flavor for the cheesecake, and this is likely to range from fruit, berry, lemon, coffee, and chocolate.

Coffee cake: A delicious, rich, and simple coffee cake is perfect when served straight from the oven with a mug of tea or coffee. Even though it might be known as coffee cake, this type of cake doesn't necessarily need to include coffee. They are generally flavored with a combination of fruits, nuts, apples, and cinnamon. Whether you are looking for a snack for a mid-day lunch or family dinners, you will certainly like the taste of these cakes. Many of these cakes are finished with a streusel or crumb top, which is made with oats, flour, butter, spices, nuts, and sugar.

Fruitcake: A fruitcake is one of the dense cakes and likely to be overloaded with a wide choice of candied or dried fruits and nuts, as well as spices, brandy or rum. Since this cake is so dense and rich it is more likely to be dished-up with very small pieces. A fruitcake can be eaten as soon as it is baked, but in general it is able to offer a more preferred taste if left to age in a wine, bourbon, brandy, or rum soaked cloth.

Blazing Velvet Cake

Have you been looking for a red velvet cake recipe? If you are someone who prefers to make a red velvet cake recipe from scratch rather than buy it in a box at the store or try to modify a box of cake with red food coloring, you are going to enjoy this recipe! In order to complete this red velvet cake recipe you will need the items and ingredients listed below:

3 round cake pans
Vegetable oil or other non-stick coating for the pans
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 egg white (for added moisture)
2 tablespoons red food coloring
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Divide the cake batter so that each of the three cake pans has an equal amount of batter. Place the cake filled pans in the oven for about 30 minutes. You may need to adjust this depending on your oven. When you can put a toothpick in the center of the cake and pull it out clean, your cakes are done. Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool. Once they are cool, you can trim off any parts that will make the cakes unbalanced when stacked.

Gather the ingredients for your red velvet can recipe and allow the oven to preheat to 350 degrees. Sift the flour into a bowl. Add the other dry ingredients to this bowl and combine them. In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients. Using a mixer, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ones. Mix the ingredients until the batter is nice and smooth.

Using oil, butter, or some other type of non-stick material, coat the cake pans. If you prefer, you can line them with wax paper instead or sprinkle confectioner's sugar on the bottom of the pan. This is completely up to you. There is now worry about the sugar being seen because it will be covered with frosting.

No red velvet cake recipe would be complete without the cream cheese frosting. You will need the ingredients list below:

1 lb. cream cheese
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1 cup softened unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all the ingredients, sifting in the sugar. If you wish for a firmer frosting, make it as soon as the batter is done and put it in the refrigerator while the cakes bake. To frost the cake, coat the bottom layer with frosting on the top of the cake only. Place the second cake on top of the bottom one and repeat the process once the cake is firmly attached with the frosting. Repeat the process with the third layer of cake. This time, you will not only frost the top of the cake, but the sides as well. You can now decorate the cake as you please. It is common for people to decorate this particular cake with chopped walnuts, but it will not take away from the red velvet cake recipe if you choose to use something else.

Spongebobs Cake

With the use of box cake mix you can make this simple recipe of sponge cake which is a light and fluffy dessert. You can make a professionally made sponge cake in a cinch with the addition of a few ingredients like baking powder, salt, eggs, vanilla extract, sugar, milk and butter. This hot milk sponge cake version has a creamy and luscious flavor. It can be dressed up in a number of ways. With just a dusting of confectioner’s sugar or covered with chocolate or vanilla frosting it can be enjoyed on its own.

It is important to mix the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients separately when making sponge cake. Until thick, the eggs and the sugar should be beaten together. Then the wet and the dry are gradually incorporated together, and after folding in the ingredients a smooth mixture is obtained. This will help keep air in the mixture and will also help the cake rise properly. The result is a light and porous cake. This cake is perfect with coffee or tea. With a cup of hot chocolate this hot milk sponge cake also pairs well. To a heavy and rich meal it is the perfect ending.

This recipe makes use of box cake mix. This box of cake mix can be bought in the grocery and is available in many different brands. Usually the ingredients contained in a box cake include sifted flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and butter or vegetable oil shortening. Most commercial box cake mix include other additives such as partially hydrogenated soybean oil, modified food starch, cellulose gum, xanthan gum, maltodextrin, and artificial flavors. If you don’t like to use box cake mix you can make your own homemade box cake mix from scratch. A simple homemade cake mix consists of two ¾ cups flour, ¾ cup fine sugar, 2-teaspoon baking powder, and ¾ teaspoon salt. Simply mix these ingredients together and you have your box cake mix. You can store these ingredients in a jar with an airtight lid for later use.
